CBE sets up 111 registration centers for 40/60 housing scheme
ADDIS ABABA, – The CBE has set up 111 registration centers for 40/60 housing scheme whose registration is scheduled to be conducted from August 12-23, 2013.
The bank has readied the centers in various Woredas under the Addis Ababa city administration. Additional registration centers, if any will be made public in due course.

The Addis Ababa City Administration announced that it has finalized preparations to begin registration for the new 10/90, 40/60 and 20/ 80 housing projects as of June 2013.
Mayor Kuma Demekesa told journalists yesterday that the registration for the newly designed housing project aimed at benefiting mainly the low income group begins next June. “
The Mayor noted that over 1. 3 million applicants are expected to get registered. Those who register for 10/90 scheme have to come up with 10 per cent of the cost of the house while 90 per cent will be provided in loan. This will be implemented according to the 20/80 and 40/60 housing project.
The Mayor said that applicants also should come up with documents that prove they do not own any land-related property. The administration has been making extensive efforts to address serious housing problem in the city.
Kuma also said that 117 woredas will conduct the registration and have already been equipped with the necessary facilities. Every applicant should produce evidence showing he/she resided in the city for at least two years.
Commercial Bank of Ethiopia Vice President Abay Mehari also said that the Bank will conduct the 40/60 housing project and handle the saving process. Moreover, every applicant is required to open a saving account right after registration.
Addis Ababa Construction and Housing Development Bureau Head Getachew Haile-Mariam also said that the administration is planning to build over 10,000 condos to meet the demand.
Getachew said that applicants should not apply for more than twice and also bear city identity card or their employer organization.
The Mayor called up on stakeholders to cooperate with the administration in facilitating the registration.
